The Wilson Creek Overlook
along the Tanawha Trail,
Blue Ridge parkway and Linn Cove Viaduct is a great combination of
scenic driving & hiking. The overlook is just north of Grandfather
Mountain and the hike is moderate to reach a most spectacular view!
However, travel further south towards Asheville and Wow! Just wait
until you observe the Craggy Gardens!! It is electric!

Great Smoky Mountains; specifically, I personally enjoy the
ride along NC 441 to Clingman's Dome near the Tennessee border. Or
go the extra quarter mile to Newfound Gap in TN.

The Beach! You can't beat temps in the 70's or 80's with low
humidity and less crowds?

Wiseman's View-Linville Gorge Wilderness Area.
Even when you think the colors have passed...the gorge below can
surprise you nicely.
